! Of course that's the answer, you're only good buddy . OK I know of Turbo Timers, and I know they help the Turbo to cool down after a drive! Now do I need a specific Turbo Timer for Lucy or can I just buy any? Next question.... how many thousand dollars will I need to outlay for such ?

| Cheapest price for it is here (it's where it comes from originally) Using Vegetable oil as a diesel fuel - products I should probably charge Goat industries a commission

| we have a turbo timer and you can use any as long as it has the toyota ignition plug , they are easy to fit and our like most can be set from anything from 1 minute up to 5 minutes if you have been on a long journey, well worth having one if you do long trips as it does reduce the wear on the turbo, 1 word of warning lol, when you stop and turn off, get out and look the car and walk away and the car is still running, have had people come up to us and ask why the car is still running even tho we are not in it, so have to explain why lol | ||||||||

That does not mean that turbo timers are illegal, but that you should be careful how you use them (i.e. stick around until the engine stops). They are still worth using, as you can get on with getting kids out of car or retrieving stuff from the boot while the engine is running, and without the risk of accidentally locking keys in, because they are already in your pocket. | |||||||||

| Has no one thought of using the Oil top up tank as a Diesel tank to do a veg conversion. Mine works but many don't and yet I still feel the need to Dip my stick! A Solenoid valve right at the pump would mean the switchover would be seconds rather than minutes to fill the pump with Diesel so a Timer would only need to be 30 seconds Maximum. enough time to get out and lock the doors and the engine should cut. Switchover to SVO from Diesel could be done with temperature by taking a reading from the engine sensor and when a set voltage is reached it would switch automaticaly to SVO. Use a proper heat exchange which is dead easy to make and you could have a fit and forget fully automated duel fuel system! Gerry | ||||||||

| Yes mounting the valve close to the pump is ideal but there isn't a lot of space, I think I tried to put an inline filter in there once but couldn't. Ideally you need diesel not only in the pump but also in the injectors. Also as soon as the car starts I would be looking at switching to veg. I would switch to diesel say 1-2 minutes before turning off, if you are driving then even less because of the increased fuel usage. then once the engine is turned off switch back to veg. Meaning the 3 port switch would default to veg when de-energised. As for using the oil make up tank as a diesel tank, that has been thought of before, but I am not sure of it's capacity and how long it would last. and as most fuel pumps have a minimum of 2 litre delivery you would have to fill up a seperate fuel can first. Getting a 12 litre tank from here Fuel Tanks & Accessories makes life a bit easier. | ||||||||
