Default cam belt change

Hi everyone I have had my emina for about 3 weeks now and was thinking of getting the cam belt changed. Are they straight foward with eminas or is there anything I need to know? thanks

to change the cambelt on these you need to remove the front seats & floor panel, then the turbo piping & if i remember empty the coolant to gain access to the front covers.

the easiest way is to contact buffalo bob on here as he can do them in about an hour, when i done mine the first time it took me nearly 4 hours

Bob can do it without emptying the coolant.
I'm in the middle of changing my cambelt now.
I got sidetracked by a leaking fuel pump and also checking the valve clearances. I have also removed the inards of a thermostat because I am going to give mine a good flush out to get rid of any Toyota red anti-freeze. I have never had any overheating troubles so it doesn't hurt to start the prevention now.
I did mention this somewhere else but I'll say it again. My car has 198000km and considering the cambelt should be changed every 100,000km I thought it was getting pretty close for comfort.
But removing the old belt showed what looked like a brand new belt, not even the slightest sign of cracking or any fraying. I bought the car with 140,000km on it, so even if it was changed just before I bought it from an importer, I would have expected more wear.

I'm not sure but I think Bob has done a tutorial well a video of the cam belt change but could be a problem with embeding them at the moment, so If you join to become a full Member you will get to see the video plus other tutorials by text or video but not just that you will get a few discounts too plus other things .....JJ

Got everything back together today, well not everything but enough to start it. The cover is still off etc but all the electrics are connected. The trouble I have is the fuel pump is empty, Ive tried pumping it on the plunger with the ignition on. I had the injector pipes off the injectors, so then I tried cranking it, the blooming battery is half dead

I wouldn't mind seeing the video or even pictures to see if I have the crank, cam and fuel pump lined up right

There is a timing mark on the crank pulley that you can't see, it's at 11 o'clock and there is a small mark on the pulley. If you ensure the woodruff key is to the left and the two threaded holes line up with the alloy casting web it will be spot on.
I find that removing the idler pulley, placing the belt on the then refitting the idler makes it far easier than forcing the belt into place - it's only one bolt.

Thanks for that Ian, I did have pictures simular to yours from a website years ago and you show exactly the same thing. So it looks like I have everything lined up.
I'll leave my battery on charge overnight and I'll see if it fires in the morning. Hopefully it will then I can put all the covers on and fill it up with coolant.

Yes I know fireing it up with no coolant is bad but I'm only going to see if it fires up nothing more, i'll probably have it running no more then 15 seconds.
I don't even have an air pipes on the turbo hopefully it won't get spinning to fast or it will spray oil residue over the roof lining

EDIT:
Ian I managed to leave the belt half off the water pump, fuel pump and crank pulley then slide it over the tensioner then gently push it on, finishing off by turning the engine over with a ratchet on the crank
