As veg oil is thicker than diesel, more pressure is built up pumping it through at high oil to diesel mixes.........50/50 works with no problems all year...80/20 can be run in summer depending on how good your seals are, but could be to much for the seals in winter.

That might be the reason why I have developed fuel leaks then,thanks for your help

Timber,I ran my bus back on pure diesel and the leak has stopped,Im thinking of going down the 90/10 veg /petrol trail what do you think?

its just a matter of trail and error as to how much pressure your own seals will take. I'd start in this weather at 75/25, if your seals are OK then try higher ratios. If they start leaking the back the mix down.

Mixing petrol into the oil 10/90 and leaving it to stand for a few days will also help, as it breaks down the thickness of the oil, and then I myself use the mix at 75/25 diesel, nice and runny....

Everything OK at the moment,engine seems quieter

My best mix for my engine seems to be at the moment, in this weather..20 lt oil to 1ltr petrol leave to thin down, then add 10 ltr Diesel.....so give or take a bit its a 66/33 mix.......come the colder weather its back to a 50/50 mix.

Every car is different and every driving style as well........I'm a slow easy on the throttle driver.......so maybe thats why mine is not happy with the higher oil levels........a faster driver who keeps his engine hotter, could well find he can run a higher percentage of an oil to diesel ratio.

I like to use about 45liters of veg with about 5 glugs of petrol in per 15liter container, once that is added to the tank after standing for a few days i add £5-£10 worth of diesel and keep adding diesel if poor cold starting and idling occur, add diesel till it runs OK.

Anyone know how much 5 glugs is?
