Question What is the top up tank for?

Great ! As a newbie I am still finding out what things are..... I have item 6 the oil top up tank; is this for the engine oil ? If it's a top up and the dipstick shows the sump level is fine how & when does the engine lubrication system use the tank contents ? Sorry to dump such a heavy question but I'm on the (very) steep learning curve. Thanks

Theres a float in the sump and when the oil level drops there is a pump on the top up tank that adjust the engine oil level, if you can follow that. Dave
PS welcome to the forum

Just don't rely on the top up, they seem to be unreliable. (But mine works OK )

Large red wire is for the amplifier in the boot
smaller wires are for neon`s & interior blue lights in the rear
