| I'd like to fit a band expander to the factory radio of our Estima Aeras. It's got the radio with the cd slot and tape slot. Does anyone know how to remove it so that I can fit the band expander? Thanks Richard | ||||||||

| I have just removed the original tape player which has the 6cd auto changer. There was a box connected inline of ther aireal which had a 12v takeoff from the lighter socket. I removed power and could only get a few stations. could ge5t lots more wityh it on except the frequency range was trange. went from 76 up 97 khz. could get most stations just not where they should be. that's a great description of the band expander, a little box fitted inline with the aerial and connected to the power somewhere (mine is connected to the power that goes in to the radio), it doesn't change the display though so it can be hard to find the station you want as the display won't show the correct frequency. I fitted one a couple of weeks back and now have 12fm stations instead of just radio 2 so a definite improvement. In mine you have to remove the surround first and then undo some screws which are set right back and can be hard to spot without a torch. To remove the surround i ran a thin bladed knife around the outside popping the lugs out as i went, can be a little fiddly and i had to pull the cup holders forward to actually pivot it out, i pivoted mine to the right so as to be careful of the fag lighter and my ect switch, hope this helps sarah

| ![]() I had to go back through your post to find the spelling mistake, it's so easy to get it wrong when you're typing isn't it - i'm forever sticking letters in the wrong order, i wonder if half my posts make sense sometimes

| The big plastic central suround of the Cd player just pulls off with some leverage you have to be a bit brave but it clips in and clips out once this is off you can see the CD player housing and the brackets holding it in and of course the srews. Not difficult. Cheers Mark

| The only bit that I found a hassle was getting the brackets bolted on to the new radio in the right position so it stuck out the required distance. In---out adjust-----in ----out ----adjust. ----- in-- aargh fantastic.right bolt in, trim on then found I had left 6 cd's in the old changer and cant open it without power. right --back out ----power up old radio, reconnect changer --remove disks. re-install new one. I recon it took me almost 2 hours by the time I had finished. ![]() Kim s | ||||||||
