I didn't even realise this poll was running.

Ok, we're upto 290,000ks and as far as i know the head has never been replaced???

If I'm honest, i've done nothing with RAW BUS - I'm rubbish at even the simplest maintenance - top up oil, fill water bottle every now and again.............

So maybe neglect is the best way to look after these buses?

I reckon i've tempted this too much now so i'll cast my vote and re-cross my fingers.

Having your crank dragged through the solid stuff does tend to take it out on the bottom......

done the same myself i reckon these busses were ment to be driven to keep from choking up, dropped the oil a few times but that was normally taking it from the super market trolly to the bus

The one i have now was bought with a cracked head and one slightly bent conrod. Did new head genuine$880 and second hand conrod and rings. The problem almost always seems to come about by blocked radiators. I have had 3 of these but imported more for family and friends and this always seems to be the case. My advice would be to remove and have the radiator cleaned every 2 years. The vans seem to go fine with as much as a 80% blockage and with no warning the temp will increase very fast and crack the head. This problem seems to be with diesel models more often but the odd petrol seem to go too, more often that not it seems to happen around 170,000 k's plus.

had my emina close on 6 years, no problems here, i had a leak on the fuel pump but thats is, i change my filters at least twice a year.
having a towbar fitted to pull my caravan ,so fingers crossed.
my emina is a J plate 1991
TBH I think if you look after them and the owners before you then you have a chance of a good car.

Well I first joined not anything to do with the head, As when I had my first Lucy in the early days, No one had a clue then. Now we need a new bus and I said to Debbie about a Lucida and I came here never looked back since. Now We are have problem's day in day out I was just saying to Debbie yesterday we must be the unluckest couple going regarding to ReMiX!!! As Bob said what goes wrong is the rarest of things to go!! Now back to the head. Our head gasket failed, I would say it safe to say it was my fault as I put the head back on. Now I'm rebuilding the engine, Head is in the machine shop and I'm stripping the block down so it will not be long before we have a fully rebuilt engine once again then I can sort the body oput once and for all!!
But all I can say is this head we got has cracked in the wrong places it the valve guide's that had cracked not the head!!!
