Default Fitting a Twin Tank

Run out of my SVO mix (SVO/petrol) and so had to put straight svo into the tank. Always had a bit of a problem starting cold on straight svo. But this morning it just would not start at all, not even trying to. A buddy who is removing his twin tank from his Padjero (he is selling the Padjero) and is fitting it in Lucy at this moment. So I hope that all goes well and I will be up and running very soon.... and no more mixing and storing 20 litres drums! So watch this space!

Try changing your filter. I had a problem on cold start with SVO, but when I changed the filter it went away. No problems when warm which is why I didn't think of the filter to begin with.

The diesel goes goes through its own inline filter and then into the Toyota filter. The SVO goes through its own inline filter and then into the Toyota filter. It is manually switched with a red lamp to show when the diesel is being used. Need to remember to flick the switch to the diesel the last few hundred feet so there is diesel when I start up cold again. All the filters are new today so I'm hoping the problem is solved.

Did have some difficulties in clearing an air block in the fuel line but once cleared it seems to run just fine. going to pick up MoLo from work just now so be able to give it a 20 mile run to see how it goes.

Have been threatening to have the twin tank fitted for sometime and now have done it.

does the diesel not return to the tank when engine is turned off any way via return feed,

Yes Rob it does. It means that there is a mix of SVO & diesel in the tank, though a small percentage of diesel, but I running in the main SVO and able to start easier of a morning. Perhaps the more expensive installs of the system account for this but at £60 I ain't grumbling!

I guess the alternative is to use a ???? cant remember what it is called now but it allows the SVO to ignite more easily when cold, I think that is the theory behind it. Doesn't Mr Mince use this in his SVO?

I'm running 100% WVO at the moment , no starting problems.

The only modification I've done is to loop the fuel return back into the filter, so as the pump warms up, it warms the fuel in the filter. This works well, but obviously takes a few mins to heat up.

Cold starting gets a bit lumpy after the glowplugs turn off, with a new clean filter, this is hardly noticeable, ( and I also have an in-line filter).

Mr Mince uses "Veggie Boost", which ( I believe ) increases the octane level, to get more power out ( hot or cold).

That's the stuff, although I only use it to counteract the power loss caused by the 20% petrol mix I use in winter.

Currently on about 98% veg possibly more just stopped adding the petrol one day. Bit of a pig to start but I'll live.

Starting probs could also be dodgy battery or worn out glow plugs
