| Some guys were asking on how to powerup their 3CT equiped busses in the previous torque monster mod thread. So here is the 3CT torque monster thread mods.. I dont have a 3CT but the 3CTE, I did inform a member on the .orgs site on how to hot his 3CT up. He was pleasantly supprised but insisted on limiting his boost to 15psi for mechanical sympathy as his thrasher was his road bike and this was the family van... But here goes.. some may have read some stuff that I have posted previously. Go to Ebay and get yourself a cheap bleed valve http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ASTRA-CAVALIE...sid=p1638.m122 Follow the intructions and place in line between the wastegate diagphram and the signal from the compressor housing. Go to Ebay and buy a Boost Guage http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Turbo-boost-g...ayphotohosting This will tell you how much boost your running. Next you need to adjust your aneroid. the aneroid is a fuel limiting device based on manifold pressure. So when there is no boost the fuel is limited and as boost comes on the mixture is richened up. Thats why you will only find aneroids on turbo diesels mechanical pumps and not on the Normally aspirated mechanical pumps. the aneroid is located on the top of the pump and has a diagphram with a locking nut and allen key on the top. This adjusts the spring pressure on the diagphram which controls fuel delivery based on inlet manifold pressure.. I think from memory that the guy wound the screw in. How many turns from memory I cant quote but this is a try a litlle bit and see how its goes mod. Too much and your car will blow black smoke all the time... No good for MOT and the enviroment. There are other adjustments that can be made but I havent had much experience with the mechanical pump, although I would love too I just havent had one yet. The guy in question was running 15psi and was quite impressed from the results. So there you have it 3CT guys... Prove us wrong and try to showup the 3CTE guys torque monster mod ClintJ | ||||||||

| checked the above link with clintj , he is very interested in the adjustments possible. I wonder what the cost to send would be?? Could be worth its weight in gold as a tutorial. there are more links here too.... http://www.estimaowners.com/communit...-like-3ct.html .....Owen.....

| I would think it a worth while thing to do on early and later estimas is to fit a boost gauge measure the boost limit, on a cooler night, and fit a relief valve. Bleed valves are nasty things which do just that, bleed air away and with it torque! Get a relief valve, aka Grainger valve, and set it to the boost limit you had before and enjoy a better drive! The valve has a ball and spring in it which can be adjusted, tightening will give higher boost pressure, and will not allow the wastegate to crack open off its seat before the desired boost pressure. | ||||||||

You are right about the bleed valves as well. They do bleed of air to get the result but its like a supercharger, you rob the engine of hp to drive but easily make it back with extra power that the device adds on. The bottom line is keeping up efficiencies. Less boost losses means that the compressor delivers all of its air. the more air lost will mean that the compressor is working harder to supply that lost air and its hotter. Higher boost will make the car seem faster initially but adding more fuel will take advantage of that... Thanks to Owenmall for providing the info into the bowls of the VE rotary pump. Armed with this knowledge we should have seen by now someone who has taken the 3CT to a very new level. ![]() anyone out there | |||||||||
