Them are the ones

so you have 3 choices
1.Mirror
2.Camera
3.Sensors

Default Mirror, mirror on the tailgate

Dear all,

Thanks for all the feedback - I will now investigate whether my tailgate has the relevant mounting holes.

I need to remove the tailgate 'spoiler' above the rear window - I can see 2 screws pointing downwards underneath the lip - are there any other screws holding it on ?

Cheers

Graeme

To remove the rear spoiler you need to remove the "upper" inner trims from the tailgate.
Then you will gain access to the 2 (middle)of the 4 bolts that hold the spoiler in place(2 outer ones underneath the rubber gromits).

I`ve looked on my tailgate (without removing spoiler)& if you look through the hole marked by a blue square then you can just make out the fixing holes/bolts for the mirror......

yep it look`s like i could even with the spoiler..
would need to make a "cut out" in the spoiler but Toyota supply a cover to suit the cut out....

I`ll stick to the "Hi Tec" way me thinks.........

Hi to all in the TEOC,

I have a 2000/2001 Previa 2.4 auto (UK car) and need to park it in a tight space - I would like to add some kind of parking aid.

I have seen the Japanese spec rear parking mirrors fitted to grey imports and would like to know if the UK Previa has the mounting holes in the tailgate to fit such a mirror ?

Any help with this or any other type of rear parking aid that has been successfully fiitted to a Previa/Estima/ etc... would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Graeme
I join here and who's the first person I see on here, and still messing about with motors after all these years (of course! lol), my old school buddy Graeme. (Well I trust it's you from FHS). Looong time no see, the last time was that fun with that old Capri 3000S I seem to remember years ago and lost touch somewhere along the line.

Did I read somewhere else that you also now had a Skyline too?

(Don't want to show disrespect to the forum and step all over your thread matey so would be good to get in touch again after all these years. I left you my email addy @ Friends Reuinited)

Does any one actually find the OEM fitted mirror of any use ...???

I personaly think they are totally useless and an obnoxious looking item ...

Although I'm not into any kind of car cleaning ... if you are into that kind of thing ... I could see them being a car wash problem ...!!!

How do they come out off bracket ..??

I have tried to remove mine to bin it ... but as it's to much hassle to remove the spoiler (and then hide the brackets mounting holes) ...

I sprayed the mirror tube / bracket with penetrating oil ...removed the small screw and although the tube turns easily in the bracket ... I just cannot get it to come out ...
