| This is my first Lucida 2.2 and my first post. How would you tackle an oil change without wasting the reservoir oil. | ||||||||

| By the "reservoir oil" I presume that you mean the oil in the top up bottle under the bonnet? If so, then simply don't worry about it! When you drain the sump and change the filter the oil in the top up bottle is unaffected. However, assuming your top up system is working correctly, it makes some sense to put in a little less oil than is needed and then let the top up system make up the difference, finally filling the top up bottle when the precess is finished. This way you avoid the problem of a slightly overfilled sump causing the oil level light from flashing... Bob3D

| hi all. im new to these busses too, a lot different from my old Evo. all this talk of top up tanks and dip sticks has made me think. does the oil only go from the top up tank if the pump in the sump works, does it not just gravitationally feed into the block somewhere? if not, can you top up the oil from the engine? i ask because my oil level light has just come on and the top up tank is full! (i thought maybe the level switch had given up) very enjoyable to drive though and suits all the family (and dogs) needs. Rich | ||||||||

| The oil is pumped from the top up tank, but only when the ignition is turned on and the level is detected as being low. And it only sends a limited amount per actuation, so it may run more than once if it hasn't delivered enough... I'm not sure if the same sensor is lighting the low oil light and actuating the top up system. If it is, then it would seem as though your pump is not working. Might be worth checking the connections. But you can top up directly into the engine - there's a standard oil cap and dipstick under the passenger seat. And it's much safer to check the dipstick for the oil level than to rely on the auto top up system. Bob3D
