| I see that diesel engines can be converted to LPG. Can anyone explain the pitfalls of lpg conversion? With diesel at almost £1.30 per litre it would seem like the way to go. SpongeCars - UK LPG Vehicles - Diesel LPG LPG Diesel Conversions | ||||||||

| LPG is used as well as Diesel in these conversions not instead of! I would imagine that in reality by the time you take the conversion cost into account and the need to buy both fuels the saving will be practically zero! Gerry | ||||||||

there is every reason to do it so long as you can do it cheaply and that there is some form of electronic control of the gas that you can alter or tune. I see regulary in australia second hand lpg systems go for only $150 or there abouts. You can get the tank recertifed cheaply and install all of the components except the gas carby/evaporator/whatever. For a diesel you only need A tank Filler port high to low pressure regulator 12volt solenoid X 2 $150 electronic fuel injector programable controller So if you pick up most of the stuff and buy the rest and install it and then get it tuned and certified by a lpg agent then your sweet. $300 or so for the gear plus your time and the certification. You can always do it on the low and remove it when mot comes around plus you can always fill it with natural gas from home but retune it to suit. Positives lower fuel cost Extended tank range Cleaner sump due to particulate matter being reduced from complete burn Clint | |||||||||
