Default Power loss

I have a problem that I cannot solve, so maybe someone can point me in the right direction. 10days ago I changed the fuel filter, and all was fine for 2 days, THEN, the engine started to stutter, the revs wouldnt go above 3000RPM, and it wouldnt engage in any of the high gears. a short term solution was to pump the filter and I eventually changed the fuel filter again and the pattern continued. Yesterday the battery drained and after I got a boost from the RAC, everything seemed fine until this morning when the problem came back. I have been running on SVO/WVO and 2 weeks ago a bought some from a local guy who had treated it. My questions are 1) Could the fuel be doing this ?, 2) Is the fuel pump to blame 3) I have checked the fuel pipes for air leaks, but would an air leak cause this ?.

Sounds like the way mine was running when the seal on the timing piston went, have you been weeping oil from the pump at all??

If I knew where the pump was I could tell you. It looks very tight in there.

Could it be the small filter under the solenoid valve?

Is you one the 3CT-E engine?

Mine had a load of problems last year when i was running on veg - similar problems. One day it was fine, half filled with deisel one night then topped up with veg when i got home - next morning it sounded like a tank, couldn't be driven as there was no power - got Bob on the case and after a change of fuel filter - pump and a tank drain we were back on the road again. I've not tempted fate by trying veg again but with current prices i might have to go back to it.

have you checked the gearbox oil? to see if its low as that can sometimes have somethign to do with lack in power and gears not engaging correctly
