I read some where that most water is absobed when cooling down from a high temp. but when heated up to 60 celcius. it can evaporate off but not much is absorbed in return The water gets locked up into the fats and bits and when left to settle it will come out. A lot of water is suspended and wont come out on its own accord. I heat mine up to 60-70 and when its thin, this allows the water to either evaporate off, or settle. I have done a hot plate test on my oil thats filtered to 5 micron before heating and after heating and there is quite a noticable difference. I REALL REALLY would not advice thinning with petrol/derv then heating as solvents boil off at quite a low temp and become rather vollitile. Most chip pans only have 1/2-1lt of oil. just think if 20 litres caught fire ![]() ![]() Kim

![]() | I don't have any problems heating mine up to very high temps once it's thinned.....but then I do it in the combustion chamber ![]() ![]()

The heat generated is massive, as is the smoke that builds up quickly inside a building. Its also a bad time to find out that 1/2 of the available fire extinguishers are faulty...... ![]()

[/quote]Oddly this never occurred to me as I heated 8 gallons in my old washing boiler I use for boiling off the water (since Mrs mince where she'd like to put my bubbling 20 litre cans after a few times dewatering on the hob )Scary to think about now ![]()
