Hello all,,
Just joined the forum so don't know anyone yet. I'm based in Derby, Midlands. Don't know if it's been done before but i've got a 1993 Lucida that is now in the process of conversion to run on electricity. Yep,you got it, Electric. I've just stripped out all the mechanical bits to make way for the motors and battries. What a job that was... I'm sure the manufacturers design cars just for a laugh when your trying to get your spanners on them.. ![]() Anyway, everythings out and the weight thats been taken off is a Massive 472 KG. Being the design style that it is, there is absolutely masses of space for the motor and batteries under the bonnet and under the car too. Having already got my home partially solar powered, the car will be re-charged from solar power, so it will be free. I'm also putting stick on solar panels on the roof of the car for charging aswell. (no sunroofs). Most of my driving is done in and around Derby so a long range is not so important but its not such an issue anyway although going hundreds of miles would cause a problem. Top speed is estimated at around 65 - 75 mph. Don't know if anyone's been much faster in their Lucy but I have and it don't seem like the most stable car in the world at higher speeds. I will keep the forum posted as to the progress on the car and it is going to take quite a while to finish due to expense, health, and legislation requirements. By the way, I've now got a shed full of parts available off it so if anyone wants anything for their Lucy, let me know by pm. One thing you guys may be able to help with is this. I want to change the power steering rack for a manual steering rack. Anyone know what will fit in its place? Wow cool project, can't help much with the rack but I'm sure lots of us would be interested in your progress, keep us informed with lot's and lot's of piccy's
. It would help your funds to raise a little revenue from the parts you have removed. So if you could list the parts you have stripped down and whether you know the condition.(was it a runner) Is it 3ct or 3cte if you don't know just check the vin plate under the bonnet. This would also make a good story for the club magazine ...........Good luck with the project and look forward to your updates on this..............Oh and is it that sunny in derby????.....

A bit of info for the parts....
CXR10 chassis.... 3CT engine.... 1993 'K' Obvious parts available, all in good pre strip working order unless otherwise stated... Starter motor. Water pump. Diesel injector pump & heatshield. (sold) Fuel filter housing. Fuel tank. Alternator incl pump unit. Air con pump. (sold) Turbo. Exhaust manifold. Auto gearbox. Flywheel incl clutch. Radiators. Basically, all the parts are available and the list would go on and on. So if you want something just ask. Now the interesting bits.... Head.... Cracked! (i think)... good valves and cam.Engine.... Score in No 4 cylinder! (poss broken ring).... good crank & bearings.Like I said, if its not listed just send a pm. I'm not out to do anyone with prices but i know values too so if you want something just make an offer. The electric motor i want is over £600 so anything sold will go towards that. I'd be very interested in the injection pump so I can refurbish it off the bus and then just exchange it over - mine has a slight leak with veg oil...
And good luck with the project - it'll be interesting to see how it works out - and to see if you can steer it without power assistance! Bob3D

does your one have a automatic closure motor on the boot (close boot so far and the boot closes itself). think its called asoft close boot.
and a friend need a aircon motor, please can u pm me as i havent made enough posts to send pms. many thanks sean |
