Default Checking Oil

I bought my townace a couple of weeks back, and the one thing I can't figure out is how to get into the engine and check oil, I know that you pull the left hand seat right forward and angle it then disengage the two clips at the front, but then pushing towards the rear I can get the seat no further than 10degrees upright, what am I doing wrong ?

I just undo the clips & lift the seat up from it's natural position - then it clears the roof.....
