Mmmm.
Tapping from the fuel pump because the timing belt has slipped. The belt then slipped further causing valves and pistons to become very close and cuddly.

Yup - I can see - the plastic edging round the engine cover is falling off. That's the trouble with people on this site - always looking for a complicated solution.

Well, it's not a 3ct-e for a start.

The long machine bolt threaded all the way gives me a shiver - whatever went wrong someone used the wrong bolt when it was put together last.

Is that a hole through the case behind the bit that looks like part of a big end cap?

The bracket bit on the left, with the bolt (plus gap between bolt and washer) - the end of that looks very odd - not just sheered but in steps.

Great thread Bob - give me something for a pending nightmare. May I suggest you contact the thread about the ticking noise - just in case....
