Hi and welcome to the forum, we have quite a bit of info on the EGR valve dotted around the forum, so give the search function a try and we will try to answer any questions you may have

Welcome to the nuthouse.

White smoke is not a good sign and not likely to be the egr, that is usually a black smoke issue.

Have you needed to top up the water regularly with no obvious sign of a leek?

It's not a good sign, I agree, particularly if it occurs on starting!!

HI cheers for all the replies as for loosing water i have not noticed any loss and the white smoke comes and goes but not on start up it seems to be when im in the drive through at macdonalds getting the kids a treat on fridays or when im sat at traffic lights but when i smell the smoke it smells like unburnt derv any way i blocked the erg done a oil + filter change +fuel filter and put some redex injector cleaner in and no smoke yet but thats normall, give it a day or so then she will start smoking again. thanks all.

Thumbs up problem sorted (white smoke)

Hi changed oil, done a fuel and oil filter change blocked the (egr, erg) unit off and cleaned the injecters off with redex for diesels, Been 9 days now and not a puff of smoke now seems to have done the trick.
I think it must of been dirty injecters and all the fuel not burning.
So just like to say thanks for all the help and tips kipper.
