I think it is coming from around where red arrows are on above picture.

And no there are no rouge J.S cans.

Its definately where i have pointed out. Seems to only do it when idling. When the engine is just slightly jumpy due to veg. But if you close to that area it is ear splitting crack.

hi

you have checked the nut's and bolt's are tight holding the injection pump in place, seeing you have adjusted the timing belt ? the noise was not there before the re-timing ? also is it to advanced now should you of adjusted it the other way instead? if it is to advanced it would give you a banging similar to pinking on a petrol engine.

Well my neighbour has had a listen and he reckons that there is a valve nicked. Which he says would mean me having to dismantle the head again.

Its all done. Just took Ophiuchus for a run and all running sweet as a nut. Only one thing
not working now. Temp gauge.

Really happy.

And the problem was ....... veg oil. Just as Bob said. Put diesel in fuel filter and run it and all fine, filled up with another 20litres and all running well.

I would like to say a big thank you for all your help and support.
A special thank you to John (Mr Mince)for giving up his weekend to help me a while back.
