Ace, thanks for that. I have changed brake shoes on other vehicles, you have just reminded me what a pig of a job it can be, I think I will leave well alone. Another job for the garage.

Mr Mince, you wouldnt like the weather here, every morning I take my dogs for a walk & almost everybody I meet says, "lovely day isnt it", my usual reply is "its always a ....... lovely day", it just gets so boring. At least in England people had a variety of weather descriptions to choose from, its cold, its wet, its windy and of course varying degrees of these. Spanish people dont even discuss weather. Today I have been to the beach, hope your weekend went well & I mean that kindly.

Nope I would love it a few years ago we had a summer that was nice from start to finish, never complained once

I must say for a Scotsman I'm a wimp when it comes to weather

I remember one August going to the beach in Aberdeen, never could work out how that was ever a holiday resort.

Never worked that one out either, it's been more than a bit windy everytime I've been there.

Just remembered to add, there are discs instead of drums available on these, even as far back as 93, looking behind the wheel would make it obvious though they're not hidden. I'm not looking forward to mine when time comes. I've had mixed results doing brake shoes in the past too

I have looked, definately drums not discs.
I have always managed to change them in the past but last time was about 10 years ago. With advancing years and the onset of arthritus in my fingers I do feel that I could be facing an uphill challenge. It might be prudent to allocate funds from my next pension cheque and solicit the services of a local mechanic.
I still dont understand the relevance of the inspection hole on the back of the drum, all I could ascertain was that the shoes were present. As for being able to slide under there without jacking up, obviously a suggestion from a much younger member.
