| My Nephew has just fitted a Hawk HA-260RS alarm immobiliser to my cherished possession but when I got it back and tested it, it does have a problem. If I disarm it and then open any door but the driving door it rearms after 30 secs or so and then when I close the door I have opened that door is not locked and I have to unarm and then rearm (messy). The reason for this I am sure is that there is only the Drivers door that is connected to the unit. What I need to do I think is wire all the other doors to the alarm unit putting a diode in each lead to seperate them from one another. Has any one done this and if so were is it best to pick up the leads from the various door switches. I would have thought that the two front doos would have been commoned as they do light the same light but they are not. | ||||||||

Best place is to wire directly into the central locking relay which is located behind the passenger side dash, that way all doors will lock/unlock at the same time.............

| Hi Estma, thanks for your reply, the problem is not with the central locking that works fine, it is when you disarm the the alarm it unlocks all the doors but if you then do not open the driving door then the alarm reactivates and all the doors lock this is the feature that makes sure the alarm reactivates if for instance you disarm it unintentally ie. if the fob is in your pocket in your house and you accidently press it. The problem is that suppose you have been shopping you deactivate and open the boot because the boot switch is not connected to the alarm control unit this unit does not know you have opened the boot consequently after about 30secs it rearms and locks all the doors except the boot. When you close the boot it remains unlocked and you have to unarm and then rearm, if you are going to drive off this is not a problem, it also means that if any of the doors other than the driving door was forced open the alarm would not sound. The reason for this problem is that the passenger door, sliding door and boot door do not have their door switches wired to the control unit, these would have to be wired through blocking diodes to prevent feedback, what I am asking is has anyone done this and if so how? There is no ultrasonics fitted, I find them a nuisance Last edited by acrowot; 18th August 2008 at 06:52 PM.. Reason: clarification | ||||||||

| hiya mate the alarm system i fitted also re-arms itself if you just unlock the car using the fob , i went all through the fitting instructions to see if i could disable this feature but it doesn`t look like it but if you open the car , turn on the ignition for a moment , then off again it wont re-arm until you press the fob again so im happy with that .rick. | ||||||||

| Hi V8 Rik, yes mine is like this, you only need to open my driving door to deactivate. Estma thanks for the link, I do have the installation instructions but these do not help, it is the bus wiring diagram that is required. Wiring from each door switch to the alarm unit via diodes is the proper solution, it just seems messy and I wondered if it was possible to locate the wires feeding these switches at a more convienient point pref. next to the control unit.LOL | ||||||||

Just a thought but couldn`t you use the door open light up on the dashboard cluster that way which ever door was open then the alarm would`nt re-arm.............

| Hi Estma,That souds like an excellent idea, I will investigate that one, it could very well be the solution and very close to the alarm unit as well, thanks. On reflection though that light is only lit when the ignition is on. Last edited by acrowot; 18th August 2008 at 07:33 PM.. | ||||||||
