Default Still smokey

Have taken appreciated advice-changed fuel, oil & air filters but still smokey. If I start from cold without exceleration there's no smoke. Exceleration in neutral produces dark puffs. Pull off can be very weak & smokey from cold until turbo kicks in (Which can take a few minutes sometimes.) She runs smoothly & without signs of smoke once up and running (Did 370 kms weekend) However sometimes if I stop and rev up she smokes - but pulls away clean. Smoke seems to be associated with periods of power loss. Any more ideas folks-the whole family love our new baby?

How come it takes a few minutes for your turbo to work,That sounds odd to me but hey im no mechanic but i thought they were operated by exhaust gas pressure which you get as soon as you start the engine hence the whistle when you rev em up, Nick.

There's tutorials in the members area,

Best way of cleaning injectors is to stick a tin of this Bloznobs Jollop* in the fuel filter.

Also the symptoms you've got sound like the EGR valve on the way out.

*I still reckon Tykeys Jollop sounds better

Thanks all. EGR--What & Where is it. Could it be turbo problems? If the piston rings are worn would that affect the turbo--something that would be less apparent once heated? Never had a live manual for any of my other cars--interactive what!! Cheers

id do the simple things like change the filter and fill it with diesel cleaner, then have a look on here for the egr blocking posts, then you can go from there.

All filters changed already. Put in the Jollop in & waiting. This morning was a typical example of my problem. She always starts well. Pulled off this time with ECT & overdrive off (A little more power but very little in it) Smoked & refused to go over 15/18 MPH with foot full down for 800-1000yds--smoking. Turbo kicked in--all hunky dory??? Love to sort it. Can strip a Ford petrol engine in my sleep-this is another cuppa tea.
