| Over £100 from Toyota for a new filter housing. This PM i will have the filter off, have a good look to see if all looks ok and maybe even put a new filter on. If that fails to fix the problem i will source a second hand filter housing. Can someone please reassure me that my syptoms point towards an air leak at the filter housing? ie being able to prime the filter after its been stood, then fuel starvation/cutting out after a couple of miles, then a few minutes of running rough, then all ok for the rest of the day, then when it has been stood overnight start all over again. | ||||||||

| Sounds like an air leak that is allowing the fuel feed to drain back into the tank. So yes you can prime the system with what is in the filter and yes it will start and run. While that is happening the filter is draining faster that the pick up can suck up from the tank. Once it cuts out and you give it a few more cranks there is enough fuel in the filter to run. So what is it, the filter housing can cause problems as the primer diaphragm can leak, but that may also cause problems when priming, fuel hose leak between filter and fuel tank and also between filter and fuel pump. I would get a Jerry can of fuel run a hose to the pickup side of the filter and see if that stops the problem. If not try it direct to the fuel pump. Hope this helps.
