our first esti leaked at the back and after replacing the door seal it still leaked, anyway we found that it wa the window seal so replaced that nd never looked back. to get rid of the damp if you go in to any cheap shop they have those little dehumidifiing tubs with the gel in, put a couple of those in the boot and it should draw the damp into that.....Debbie

Cheers Debbie

I had a look at the window seal today. is that a job for window people like autoglass or can anyone fit it?

Is it worth getting a new seal or should I pick one up from a breaking lucida?? I'm not sure if the P reg lucida window seal will fit my 92 emina.

How much are they new?

to be honest its a easy job if you know what your doing, if you have done a windscreen before with the string and washing up liquid then you will be fine, there is a trick once you have the window in place go round the seal with some clear slicone sealant, thats what we did and it makes double sure it wont leak lol

LOL I wont have a chance then.

Em, where should I get this done then? a car garage or a windscreen specialist?
Or can I just whack clear silicone all the way around the outside?

was reading this and i have leak in boot as well, but i think mine is water coming down inside the rubber sleeve for the wires which go from the bus into the tailgate, the sleeve has been split to fit extra wires for reverse beeper, and that seems to be letting water into boot

Rather than replace the screen seal try this excellent product.

Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure (60ml) - Workshop - Caravan Accessory Shop

Available from boat and caravan stores. It is a very thin clear liquid that runs into cracks and then sets. Merely run it around the edge of the seal (after a good clean and letting it thoroughly dry). Works very effectively.

Cool. thanks Ian. That stuff looks really good and I might try it. But as it's thinner than water, wont that just run straight through? how will it fill the gap up behinde the seal?

My boot leaks. I blame the garage who fixed my sliding door. They disabled the motors that make the doors close tightly! The boot door never pulls in tight now. I've got round the problem by smearing silicon grease around the the door seal......not ideal but it works

it's only for hairline leaks. You apply it in several stages to let it build up - but it won't fill a large gap at all.
9 out of ten the liquid sealant will find the leak and take only a couple of minutes to do. Use it on both the outer and inner edges of the screen seal. As you apply it you can see if it running on the surface or going inside the seal. Obviously concentrate where it disappears inside! Each application hardens off quickly. Wipe down spillage immediately.

If your screen seal has serious gaps, prise it away from the screen (with a thin plastic spatula) and clean it out with white spirit. Then fill the gap by going round with same spatula and injecting screen sealant with a sealant gun (the sealant is only a couple of £ per tube as it is a bitumous type rubber mastic type of thing..if you see what I mean).

Siroflex Polyflex HM Polyurethane Sealant and Adhesive - Black -

Best to do this on a day when the sun is directly on the screen and the tube has been in hot water for over an hour.

Ps also ensure that the rubber seal (perished?) under the rear wiper arm is not leaking or loose!
