Default D'oh!

Well, I've been meaning to post for ages, just to say hi again after a very busy summer, but now I find that I am posting because of a problem anyway. Ol' Bertha has served us well this summer touring back and forth to conferences and even a 10-day 1,200 mile trip to France. But on Friday a she stalled on me twice when stopping at junctions, then as we made our way home from dinner with friends when *pop* we lost pressure and billows of white smoke burst from the exhaust as we made our way up the A36.

The AA guy has diagnosed a head-gaskett and Bertha is now laid up on the drive.

Bob is hopefully coming this week to give us his wisdom and take the head off if necessary. And yesterday I almost bought another Bus altogether as this one would have been cheaper than repairing Bertha - albeit an older model with slightly less miles on the clock the our Bus.

The eternal question - is she really worth fixing?

Sorry to hear that.

As to whether or not repair....the old chestnut raises its head again.

Personally, if the head has gone but there are no other faults, then I would. If you buy another bus, then who's to say the head won't go on that in a few months time? At least if Bob repairs the head for you, you know it is good for years to come ( hopefully ).
