hello team - our bus is poorly again. Sometime back the car started to run rough and belch smoke
(more than normal) under load. a week or so later the turbo started squawking at startup but fades away after running for a bit. now we also have smoke under the car as well as from the exhaust - v. embarrassing in traffic! :-(

My guess is that i think that i have dirty/blocked injector(s). and this unburnt fuel has damaged the turbo. Does this sound about right (or not) and is it possible to clean the injectors and turbo myself (am handy with the spanners) or is it a pro-clean-job or replacements time? Any other ideas?

Many thanks,
Menderman

The first thing to do in these circumstances is to fit new air and fuel filters. Don't forget to put a bottle of injector cleaner in the fuel filter before you screw it in place. After that try putting at least a 50:50 mix of fresh veggy:diesel in the fuel tank (it's cheaper than DERV, so it'll cost less than nowt ). If none of that works then get back to us.
Yesterday was a good day to die. Today has been even better. I can't wait to see what tomorrow will be like Posted Image

hi and thanks for the reply :-)
already tried the new fuel/air filters when it was just smoking and yet to squeal but it soon got worse and noisy after that. didn't put injector cleaner in the fuel filter thou - a neat trick i'll try another time but wonder if more drastic action would be needed now?

used to put veg oil in the tank but a bit wary of it since the head and gasket blew and we stopped using veg-oil since the head and gasket have been changed.

cheers - menderman

Hi i would go with new air filter and fuel filter for starters also fill fuel filter full of injecter cleaner before you replace if the EGR valve is not blocked off do that by putting a metal plate in to it when you say turbo noise are you sure its not got a split in the turbo pipe take the pipe off the turbo end get it into the light as it cracks and splits on the rubber that will cause all your symtoms so will the bits above just a matter of one bit at a time B)B)B)B)
Slowly Slowly Catchee Monkey (google it )

My bus has now gone
just got the the pajero
Ltd Edition
limited mean they limited the bits they fitted and left all the bling off
