Hello I have just fitted a Mason Alarm there are eight settings and a off possion,what possion do I set the alarm?
Also I have a question about the timing belt on the car, the car has done around 35000 mls since it was last replaced.
when will it need replacing, Iam going on a long drive from Carlisle to London and back next week. Thank you

the mason alarm tends to be best set at 4- 4.5 start it up and turn it to 3, see how long it takes to go off, then turn it up till it doesnt sound, needle should be just below the 9 o clock position.
as for the cam belt, it should be good for 100k, so i wouldnt worry about it

My alarm is just a little back box with no guage. thanks for the info about the belt.

if you have a mason alarm fitted,your temp gauge may read a little higher sometimes,may go upto the 10 o'clock position,especially going up hills or when towing.
deopending on what quality of cambelt was fitted,some are known to only last around 12,000 miles or 18 months,these are the cheap ebay ones from iezura.
A decent make belt,blueprint,Dayco,gates or toyota should last around 60,000 miles ,so change around 50,000 miles or 4/5 years to be safe,imo.

not sure how long ago the belt was fitted so will look to change it in the next couple of months.
