Crankshaft Oil Seal leaking Rate Topic: -----

hi all we have a leaking crankshaft seal now we have only just replaced this seal brought brand new from toyota deaer but its still leaking can any1 help on this

is it seated right .i am not got a clue about the seal on this .but hope some one can help soon

Are you sure there shouldn't be something else behind it? It's a long time since I delved into that area and I may have misremembered the correct terminology, but I think it's called an 'oil thrower'. It's a slightly dished plate that rotates with the crankshaft and, due to centripetal momentum, throws the oil outwards and backwards away from the seal.

IIRC it's just inside the sump on the crankshaft nose and there should be another at the other end.

ok we took seal out now we have discovered that the crankshaft is wobbling can someone tell me if this means the bearings inside is gone

hi all again so ok we got bubbles engine out and investigated to discover all the shell bearings were gone so bubbles will be up and running again soon we hope :)

Don't forget to measure the end float and get the correct size of thrust washers to compensate as necessary. If not the engine will need stripping down again in short order. That's if you intend to have the crank ground and fitted with undersized bearings. An alternative which could be cheaper, if not quicker, is to get a 'low mileage' short motor from BBC (on eBay), new genuine Toyota (essential!) gaskets, timing belt, thermostat, etc and fit your existing head to it.
I did that, but in my case the original block was just so much scrap metal!

ok we took crankshaft and bearings out of a toyota camry engine just got to fit them all in 2moro :-)

ok all we got bubbles on the road and she started up all is fine after sorting a water problem now after we got he back we went to start her and the starter jamed arghhhhhhhh
