Yeah, sounds much better too, actually makes the Xtrons unit sound good when playing MP3's from my phone.

Looking at your tutorial for upgrading the speakers now!

Cheers

Don't amps put out a fair bit of heat?

I'd be stressed it would fail with the heat from the engine under it and no where for it to breath.

My 2cents anyway

Depends on the load and how efficient the amp is some barely get warm tbh some of the ones i've used in the past Kenwood, Pioneer etc have barely gotten warm except when bridged to drive 400w sub boxes :sofa: that is and even then they didn't really get hot

No engine under there

Engine is under the bonnet on a Mk 2 Estima

Plus the seat bolts on top of the frame in the pic so there`s plenty of air around the amp

Tis also where Toyota mount the navigation DVD player & CD multi changer (Drivers side)

I did consider the heat output before installing the amp under the seat. It is true the amp does get hot, not enough to boil a kettle on but certainly noticeable if you place your hand on top of the amp's casing. I did have to play my thrash metal at full volume for half an hour before the amp got more than slightly warm though! My normal listening to Radio Four doesn't even get the amp tepid!

There is a Hessian type material cover over the underneath of the seat which had partly come off and was hanging down, which I fixed back into position ,and the cables from the pressure pad sensor for the seat belt warning light that I fixed up out of the way so they do not rest on the top of the amp. There is about 2 inches of clearance now between the top of the amp and the under surface of the seat as the seat does not rest directly on the sub frame so I think all will be okay.

The seats are leather and get most heat from the Sun - not as bad as the plastic seats I remember from childhood in my dad's Morris 1100 that would take the skin of your bare legs when wearing my school shorts !
