The buckle is too low down to get the triangle in the correct position to hold the seat in, is that it?

Have you thought of a longer buckle part that sticks up a bit higher if you get my drift?

Or even an extension piece? Securon seat belts may have what you would need, just Google securon.

The buckles in my Hiace are in the seat cushion and my grandsons Britax Freeway fits in fine.
Don't let them grind you down !

Thanks but thats not it, my buckle piece is quiet long and not the problem at all, its fixed into the seat around 10cm in the seat so when you pull the seat belt tight to fit a child seat it pulls down and not into the seat towards the back if that makes sence. It feels tight at first but u can easily full the seat loose again and it wobbles side to side, This happens in both my graco and britax seats that I have in the back! The middle row of seat I have fixed are tight and wont budge but the buckle piece is fixed differently (from the gap between back rest and seat)

There is another solution to this if all the belt is required to do is hold the seat in place and the seat is going to be fitted as a semi permenant fixture then securon in amersham bucks produce static belt kits for less than £30 per side why dont you fit these to the car at the rear where you are having trouble. they can then be adjusted to tighten the seat as you need.
I used to fit these on the townaces that only had lap belts on all seats.
probably the cheapest option and more importantly safe.

Barani have you got the 8 seat version? It's the only thing I can think of as a difference either that or my belts have been changed at some point, the Tobi fits perfectly in the front and middle rows but not the back but only as the belt is not long enough and it's been checked as well.

Other than that I have no idea why I can get those 4 seats to fit perfectly other than just to say that they do

Luci, ur reply has really made me smile... I'm off to mothercare in a bit they said they would look at it for me although she knew what I was talking about when I phoned and she said she has come across this problem before and wasnt able to find a car seat that fitted. Also the seats used in japan are apparently illegal to use over hear (acording to Halford last night) I'll report back later....

I wouldn't put too much faith in what Halfords say about such things, they receive training on foreign car seats presumably <_<

Good luck at Mothercare the only trouble is they only stock a small fraction of what the online store sells, our Recaro wasn't a stock item. However if you buy a car seat online and it doesn't fit they will take it back at the store and give a full refund had to do that with a front and rear facing britax as it was shite

mine is the 8 seater version and yes the rear belts are shorter as the rear facing car seat wouldn't fit in the rear (or back back row as the kids call it) but the forward facing does, I have had 2 freeways, 2 argos cheapies and a graco booster in the back all well fitted and secure in all the seats (obviously the booster in the 3 point rather than lap belt)plus another bum on the vacant seat
