Radio no sound out of radio Rate Topic: -----

hi i know this might sound crazy but my central locking started playing up and at the same time the radio comes on but no sound from speakers. But if the key is turned to its first click the radio will be on but no sound from speakers.if you open the door or use the flasher the sound comes out of the speakers but if the engine is started there is no sound but the radio is still on has anyone got any advice thanks Trident

I think it might be a loose earth behind the dash. Most strange electrical faults tend to be poor earths.

Thanks father ted had the radio out today and all connections looked fine to me are there earth to body behind the dash. as i have found some earths on drivers side panel foot well also nearside inner wing under bonnet next to the fuse box.

If opening the door causes something to energise the speakers I'd look at the wiring from the door to the driver side footwell which you mention.

Thank's Well have a look at it tomorrow but the same thing happens when I use the flasher stem on the headlights it's seems as if it is a power serge on the system as if the engine is runing the radio is on but no sound no matter what you do the sound will not come on .

hi guys thanks for all your help finally got to the bottom of the central locking and the radio problem after taking the dash out and looking at the relays they were OK. the problem was the connection block under the wing from the passengers door it was very wet cleaned the terminals and dried it out with an air dryer every thing is working fine now thanks trident.

PS i think the cause of the wetness was from jet washing wheel-arches. great forum.
